JBs has been open exactly one yer on august 4th and to celebrate, we’re having a bit of a party on Friday 5th.

We’ve had a special one-off beer brewed by Sleaford Brewery. A 5.5% Espresso and Vanilla Stout. Chris at Sleaford has made only two casks of this and we’ve got both of them. When it’s gone, it’s gone so don’t miss it!

Next up, Porter’s of Newark are making us two birthday cake-sized pork pies to put on the bar, so big thanks for that.

We also have a raffle with prizes donated from our loyal customers. All proceeds go to Beaumond House Community Hospice.

Of course, no party would be complete without a cake, and we’ve one of those too, being baked by Polly and Penny.

So, quite a day and one we’re really looking forward too. Hell, we might even splash out on some balloons!

Stan LaurelThis coming Thursday (16th June) is Stan Laurel’s birthday and to celebrate it we have specially got three fab beers from Ulverston brewery. Ulverston in Cumbria was the birth place of Stan and their beers are named after all things Laurel and Hardy.

Firstly we have the 4% ‘Another Fine Mess’, a pale, full-bodied beer with a sweet, hoppy aroma. Secondly we have another 4% beer named ‘Laughing Gravy’ after the duo’s dog. This one is a light, copper beer with a balance between malt and hops, leaving a thirst-quenching aftertaste. Lastly we have ‘Lonesome Pine’ at 4.2%, which is a pale honey beer with sweet malts followed by tangy citrus fruits.

We hope you come and clebrate Stan’s birthday with us and recall your favourite Laurel and Hardy moments. If you come in wearing a bowler hat, you’ll get your first pint for just £1.50. You could even have some hard boiled eggs and nuts with your beer! (Name the film?).

We are very excited to be having our first mini beer festival, which starts tomorrow (26th) and runs through until Monday 30th.

We have what we think is a great beer list for you including three brand new breweries (first gyle from two of them) and some rare beers from brew pubs. On top of that, we have two specials, one of them from Maypole – Heart of Gold – which will generate 50p per pint drunk to go to Beaumond House Community Hospice.

It’s a very busy weekend in Newark, but we hope you can find time to visit us and join in with our little celebration of Real Ale. Please note that we will be opening a little earlier than usual at 10 am on Friday and Saturday. come early to get a seat!

It is with great regret that we announce that Paul (Merf) Murphy has left the Business Partnership for personal reasons.

Paul was one of the founding members of the business and helped create the Just Beer model. We wish him well for the future and good luck with any further business ventures he may have.

Apparently there’s some wedding happening this coming Friday. Not sure who’s it is but if you want a refuge, JBs is the place. No bunting, no flags, no TV, radio or commentaries. Just beer. Open at 10 a.m.
